Training course in Greece: a step towards the digital transformation of medical education in Ukraine

In June 2025, a training course was held as part of the UkraineDigiTrans project at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Thessaloniki, Greece. The event was attended by representatives of Ukrainian universities working on the implementation of innovations in medical education.

The training was dedicated to the topic “Sustainable Development of Medical Education: Methods and Tools”,  which aims to integrate digital technologies into the educational process of medical higher education institutions. During the week, experts and participants exchanged experiences, worked on practical cases, and reviewed the latest technologies that could drive change in medical education in Ukraine.

Particular attention was paid to the development of training scenarios using modern digital tools, including artificial intelligence, augmented reality (XR), and other innovative technologies that can increase the effectiveness of learning and student motivation. The training participants studied methods of communicating with students, as well as planning and organizing internal workshops for colleagues at their universities.

Expert support during the event was provided by the project partners — Laurea University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece). Such cooperation contributed to the exchange of best European practices, the expansion of the professional competencies of Ukrainian teachers, and the strengthening of international partnerships.

The training also included a working meeting of project managers from partner universities, at which the results of the first six months of UkraineDigiTrans implementation were analyzed in detail. The partners discussed the project's achievements, shared the challenges faced by the teams, and identified strategic priorities for the near future.

This study visit was another step towards the digital transformation of medical education in Ukraine. The experience and tools gained will be shared among teachers at Ukrainian universities, ensuring sustainable development and innovative breakthroughs in the higher medical education system.
